About Long Island CreationsThese decorative marine creatures and nautical wall hangings are made from Long Island Sound driftwood. The driftwood is collected from Whitehall Beach near Old Field Lighthouse on the north shore of Long Island NY where I live. After 40 years of surfcasting and walking over the driftwood, I decided to do something creative with it. The shape is first cut out of backing board, then lined with felt on the back and the edges trimmed with authentic lobster pot line that I used of various colors (black, blue, green, yellow, tan). Finally, the driftwood is nailed into place and built up in layers to produce a substantial 3 dimensional look. The pieces are strung with heavy-duty wire between 2 hooks and is ready to hang.
I am also a member of AFTCO (American Fishing Tackle company) Pro Angler Program. AFTCO has supported and continues to support many conservation initiatives in the marine realm. (#AFTCO)

Each item I make is unique, and using my marine science background, are made as anatomically correct as possible based on the species chosen. These marine specimens make an eye-catching addition to any nautically themed room that your guests will surely comment on.
Special characteristics have been strategically positioned to allow for perfect representation of each fish or crab. Other pieces may be available and custom orders of most sea creatures can be requested. |
Unique MarkingEvery hand-made creation has a “special piece of driftwood” embedded in the design that bears the scars of human influence on the planet. These “scars” are usually in the form of rusty nails or screws that are found in the “driftwood” and serve to remind us of the fragile nature of the marine world.
